This tournament is being organized in association with GammonLife’s publisher, Player International Ltd of the UK, headed by Stephen Pearson who will be the Master of Ceremonies. The tournament will be directed by Howard Markowitz, Director of the Nevada Backgammon Association, organizers of the largest live backgammon tournaments in the USA.
The extravaganza will be attended by the world’s top players and famous celebrities. It will also feature special side events and festivities starting on January 21st, all leading up to an amazing final table where one player will roll his way to a cool $500,000 in first-place prize money. The entire proceedings will be filmed for a television series to later be distributed to major TV channels throughout the world.
The
concept and idea for this historical tournament is the brainstorm
of Stephen Pearson, Managing Director of Player International.
This dream event has taken over a year to become a reality, thanks
to PartyGammon and the tireless efforts of Stephen and the entire
Player International Team; Marketing
Director Susana Major, Chairman Tor Svensson, technology wizard
Richard Baker and international backgammon consultant Michael
Strato Liberopoulos - Editor of GammonLife.
The wait is over! Backgammon is back in a big way and it’s here to stay! The PartyGammon Million tournament will pay out a total of one million U.S. dollars guaranteed! The winner takes home $500,000 – about five times more than the payout of the current largest backgammon event, the World Championship.
The other half a million will be distributed to the Runner-Up, two Semi-Finalists, and four Quarter-Finalists. The top four finishers in the Consolation Tournament will also receive significant cash prizes. Here is the Tournament Structure for the live event:
